My specialty

I design bespoke college applications by connecting my students’ strengths and interests to cultural and global relevance. Through personalized mentorship and creative direction, I cultivate their confidence and expand their perspectives.

My teaching format is a combination of in-person and online for students in the South Bay Peninsula, from San Mateo to Los Gatos.

My teaching philosophy

With Students

My goal is to understand each student’s strengths and interests to shape their identity and purpose. I intend on instilling deep self-reflection, expanding my students’ horizons with a global perspective, and promoting reading habits through engaging and bespoke lessons.

Self-reflection: I only do private lessons because groups tend to hinder deep reflection and independent thinking. I weave opportunities for students to analyze their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors throughout the class.

Global perspective: My classes are engaging because they revolve around a student’s genuine interests, which I expand upon by linking cultural and global relevancy - including hands-on opportunities within my local and global craft community. Learning is a perennial pursuit that should be relevant and expansive.

Reading habits: Reading influences how we think, empathize, and communicate. Along with regular coursework, I assign readings which students are required to write weekly summaries.

With Family

After each class I message parent(s) a short summary and behavioral insights from the lesson. If a student is taking the ‘College Art & Design Portfolio Advising’ track, I spend a month getting to know the student. Then, I work with the parent(s) and student to come up with a realistic, yet ambitious plan.

At the end of the day, it takes a village. Healthy family dynamics and my student’s mental health is the priority and foundation of what I do. For long term clients, I provide a complimentary service, which is a deeper bi-monthly sync with parent(s) to make sure we are all on the same page with the child’s interests, strengths, and growth.
